Open JDK for Java Automation

Hi,
Which version of JAVA supported by community edition. Can I use Open JDK to automation java application? If yes, please suggest which version should I use?

The compatibility checker cannot determine the JAVA support. What if someone installs the new JAVA version and updated the ApplicationAutomationMetadata.json file?
