I am trying to automate login into an application which is built with webcomponents. Nothing works.

Hi,

If your website is in public domain you can share url to investigate it further. Else if you are not able to configure you can use image based automation

As of now it will not be possible to locate element in you r web application using selector approach. Kindly use image based automation approach.
